Mom has had her final chemo treatment! YAYYYYY!!!!!
Yesterday mom got to ring a bell in the chemo unit signifying that she has completed all of her treatments. Although she was struggling with having to put her body through the torture one more time, she was reminded that it really was only one more time. Aunt Suzi and Uncle Bob were even there to help us celebrate! Dad hiked all over the medical center to surprise Mom with some festive gifts... he came back with three gigantic red, white, and blue star balloons and a large wind chime, which he jingled all through the hospital all the way to Mom's room! How embarrassing! Mom is now resting quietly in her room, too sick to eat or do much. Before her final treatment, however, we did enjoy some fine dining. Two nights ago we ate with their neighbors at a neighborhood Italian restaurant, and the food was delicious! On the way back from chemo we stopped at a frozen yogurt place and Mom enjoyed some pomegranate froyo before getting into bed :)
It has been a very long 7 months of treatment, and we would like to thank all of you for your continued prayers and support. Our hope is that Mom will continue to improve and get stronger over the next couple weeks while she is neutropenic in order to prepare for her surgery in mid-August.

Galveston Getaway
Well, I am SUPER excited to say that next week is Mom's LAST chemo!!!!!!! We never thought this day would come! To mentally prepare, Mom and Dad decided to take a vacation over to Galveston this week. They were shocked when they arrived, however, to find mounds of festering seaweed piled on the beaches! Apparently this biblical seaweed inundation requires special equipment to remove it from the beachfront, and they only have ability to remove it one section at a time. Dad was excited that their section of the beach got cleared off today, and he rented a beach umbrella and some beach chairs for later this afternoon. Yesterday Dad played golf and Mom rode along in the golf cart, spotting different wildlife such as rose spoonbills and turtles. They are exploring the wharf area this morning and checking out some local shops.
Last weekend Aunt Fina came to visit for a couple days. Her and Mom snuck off to the mall for a couple hours and were surprisingly able to do a little damage :) I'll be arriving on Monday and staying for a couple weeks through Mom's last chemo.
